In this course, we will investigate some key issues related to self-knowledge and self-consciousness from the interdisciplinary perspective. We will consider the relationship between body and the self, the nature of body ownership, and whether mental ownership can be misrepresented. Both philosophical and empirical theories will be discussed, as well as some interesting phenomena such as the rubber hand illusion (RHI), artificial out-of-body experience (OBE), and the body swap illusion.
